New clinic for COVID-19, cold and flu opens at Victoria Hospital

The COVID-19 Assessment Centre at the London Health Sciences Centre is expanding services and will now be known as the COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic (CCFCC).

The purpose of the new clinic is to ease the pressure on hospital emergency departments and provide alternative accessible care for the community, said a joint statement from London Health Sciences Centre and the Middlesex London Ontario Health Team released Friday.

The CCFCC’s role is to provide assessment, testing and treatment for adult patients with symptoms of COVID-19, cold and flu. The clinic will expand to serve pediatric patients in the near future, the statement said.

“We are well equipped to expand the services offered at the assessment centre and help relieve some of the pressures currently in our adult EDs,” said Deborah Wiseman, president of Victoria Hospital.

The new COVID, Cold and Flu Care Clinic will be open seven days a week, from 9:20 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Its role is to provide assessment, testing and treatment for adult patients with symptoms of COVID-19, cold and flu. (Submitted by London Health Sciences Centre)

Health-care officials urge residents to make an appointment with the CCFCC if they don’t have a primary care provider or their symptoms get worse. They also said people who are at high risk of getting very sick from COVID-19 should call.

The CCFCC is located in Building 24 of Victoria Hospital, 800 Commissioners Rd. E. The clinic is open seven days a week, from 9:20 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Appointments must be made in advance online or by calling 519-685-8500, ext. 75503.
