Ukrainians that fled war to get article-secondary education and learning help in Sask.

Ukrainians that arrived in Saskatchewan right after fleeing the war with Russia will now pay the same tuition prices as domestic students.

Saskatchewan has declared funding to assure Ukrainian college students who fled the war will not have to pay back the much bigger worldwide scholar service fees.

Viktoriia Knyhnystska, who is graduating superior school quickly, claimed she is relieved to listen to the news.

“It truly is seriously great information for us simply because we came from war, not as visitors or one thing like that. We are very joyful to listen to that,” Knyhnystska mentioned Thursday at a government information meeting saying the alter.

Minister of Highly developed Training Gordon Wyant said the greater tuition level was a barrier for the Ukrainians who arrived in Saskatchewan.

“We absolutely want people to keep and perform and reside and increase a family listed here in Saskatchewan, and secondary training is a key section of that.” Wyant said. “We also want to deliver chances for individuals that want to return to Ukraine and create their country.”

He extra that some college students came ahead at the legislature and to city mayors to specific their considerations about getting considered international pupils.

Wyant stated the province is expecting to invest $400,000 to accommodate the Ukrainian pupils as domestic students. The income will going to shell out the differential between the domestic tuition charge and the international price. 

Wyant mentioned the province will be operating with write-up secondary institutions to determine out how the program will operate.
